We discussed orientation to member’s facilities through tours of collections and facility layout, and information binders, and ensuring heritage organizations are on the Seattle Emergency Management GIS map. Future meetings will rotate at members’ repositories. NARA hosted.
We discussed the supply cache contents and how SHERN would respond in the case of a collections emergency at a member’s facility. Members reported on their institution’s volunteer liability policy in the event members help during an emergency. Providence Archives hosted the meeting; a facility tour followed.

Gary Menges reported on “Navigating Public Assistance Following a Disaster” webinar and the meeting of the City of Seattle Disaster Recovery Planning Committee. Discussions on Frye as an alternate or second location for supply cache and on expanding membership.
We discussed strategic approaches to increasing membership and increasing visibility of SHERN through an online presence to supplement our Heritage Preservation website. The application for SHERN incorporation is in process. A supply cache committee with representatives from archives, museum and libraries was formed. The SHERN phone tree will be converted to the PReP format so it easy for members to carry with them. The meeting was held at the Frye Art Museum and following the meeting we were given a tour of the facility.
SHERN is officially incorporated in the State of Washington, as of November 17, 2014. The supply cache committee gave a report and a grants committee was appointed. We reviewed a draft of the SHERN PReP and heard a report on the work of the City of Seattle Disaster Plan Committee. The meeting was held at the King County Archives and following the meeting we toured the facility.
